Micro Lesson 094: "D Minor" Folk Fingerstyle Melody

Welcome to... "Micro-Lesson 094"

This Micro Lesson works through a Folk Fingerstyle melody in the key of "D Minor."

The melody involves "Drop D" tuning. To achieve 'Drop D' simply lower the pitch of the guitar's 6th string down a whole-step from "E" to "D."

Once in this tuning, the sound of the, "D Minor," key signature really stands out. At the first measure, the melody moves from, "Dm," to, "C major." In measure two, the "Dm" chord returns followed with a "Gm." The chords of "F6" and "C major" round out bar three. And, a short melody highlighting the effects of an "A7" chord resolve the piece back to the "D" root once again.

Use traditional "Classical Guitar" fingerstyle technique, or traditional "Folk Guitar Claw-hammer" technique to pluck the strings on the right hand. Enjoy!
