Micro Lesson 188: "Key of A" (4 Bar) Blues Lick
This Micro Lesson takes a look at a classic sounding Blues Lick in the key of "A" that covers the span of 4 music measures.
The lick begins from the 4th string at the 7th fret "A" note and works across a classic "A Minor Pentatonic" phrase ending at the 1st string fifth fret "A," octave.
In measure two the phrase targets the "5th" and "b7" intervals resolving once again into the tonic of "A," (this time at the 10th fret of the 2nd string).
The final lick ideas move between 2nd to 4th strings targeting 4th's, a lowered 3rd and the tonic once again. All together we get a nice simple collection of a number of classic Blues ideas all rolled up into just four measures of music.
Take your time building speed and watch the sweep found at the 3rd beat of measure one. Use a metronome or a drum machine to build your speed. Enjoy!
