Smooth 7th Chords for Jazzy Riffs in "Bb Major"
NEW: QwikRiffs Series - Video (004)
QwikRiffs are one of the new lesson series that are available to members at Creative Guitar Studio.com. Lessons in the QwikRiffs Series run through collections of rhythm guitar riffs covering all types of playing styles. I cover different 'famous artist' playing approaches and I will demonstrate ideas based on rhythm guitar techniques...
Episode #004 covers three "Bb" Major Riffs.
Riff one takes the "Bbmaj7," "Ebmaj7" and "Dm7" and applies them in a 7th-chord swing riff that incorporates arpeggiated lines.
Riff two involves using a busy 16th-note groove in a funk feel to connect six different chords from the key of "Bb major." The progression also applies a few scale tone filler runs as passing phrases.
Riff three sets up a nice and easy feeling Smooth Jazz sound by using a laid back groove comprised of dotted quarters and half-notes. The progression also applies the unique sound of a non-diatonic chord with a, "G9sus" (notated as "F/G").
