The 1 Thing Required to Learn Guitar [GETTING RARE]
A growing number of people seem to want to grab the guitar and have a zero pressure approach. They want a sure thing approach almost like a magic bullet technique, where there's no effort required and everything falls into place perfectly with next to no work. But, playing guitar is not like that...
Practicing guitar is more like placing a bet on yourself and then handling the effort, time, dedication and energy that it'll take to get this done in your life. If you make good time dedication and practice decisions (and you get the work into educating yourself) you're going to be successful at guitar.

When I was younger and I was taking guitar lessons, I just practiced exactly what my teacher gave me - no questions asked. And, I took lessons for years and years, (7 years of private lessons, then 4 years of classical).
When I took lessons with a serious jazz teacher I received loads of work. I never questioned the study, or the time involved, or the practice. I just knew that I needed to study to get better. And, study I did.
Today, there's a growing trend with so many people where they think that there's a quick road to playing guitar and with this "Magic Method" they can just bypass years of learning and physical practice to reach "Van Halen" level playing ability in just a few weeks of guitar lessons.
What I'm finding are more and more people who want to grab the guitar and have this zero pressure - sure thing approach - where it's a magic bullet technique, (no effort required) and everything falls into place perfectly with next to no work.
But, playing guitar is not like that. It's more like placing a bet on yourself and then handling the effort, time, dedication and energy that it'll take to get this done in your life. If you make the time and put in the practice, with good decisions about your studies (and you get the work into educating yourself), you're going to be successful at guitar. If you don't want to do that, you won't be successful. But, you've gotta put the chips down on yourself. You have to make that decision.
If you're not willing, or if you're missing on any of these things. It's not going to work for you. You'll need to realize that it will require effort. You can't carry on with your life normally and expect to become a good guitarist without setting aside the practice time and the dedication. It just won't work.
The skill sets that are needed and the actions that need to be taken to acquire them are not going to happen on their own. You'll need to put in the time and the education to reach those abilities.
So, harden up, stop resisting all of the work and just face the pressure and you'll become a guitar player, a really good guitar player.
