Micro Lesson 102: "D Major" Country Guitar Riff

Welcome to... "Micro-Lesson 102"

This Micro Lesson runs through a Country Guitar melody line that arpeggiates some of the primary chords in the key of, "D Major."

The riff begins by cutting across the "G Major" chord from the 3rd degree "B" note. The next bar resolves into the home chord of "D Major." The progressions first ending operates with some minor to major 3rd sounds and once again resolves into the root of "D."

Second ending of the piece pushes from off of the second chord's harmony (F#m7) by using the "C#" tone to an "E" for a strong resolution once again back to the home chord of "D major." [The F#m7 chord = "F#, A, C#, E"].

Take your time and memorize the entire riff. Afterward, be sure to add some of the swing feel into the groove in order to really balance the style. Enjoy!
