Micro Lesson 122: "Key of B" Hendrix-Style Lick

Welcome to... "Micro-Lesson 122"

This Micro Lesson demonstrates a speedy guitar lick in the key of "B" blues out of the style of Jimi Hendrix.

The lick begins in the 7th position working across a descending combination Pentatonic Scale. If you're not familiar with the "Blues Combination Pentatonic" the scale applies different 'blue notes' mixed against the standard pentatonic tones. These include the "Perfect 5th," the "Diminished 5th," the "Major and Minor 3rd's." (and sometimes the "Major and Minor 7th's.")

The lick rapidly descends initially, then ascends into the 12th position. Everything happens very quickly with scale connections occurring very smoothly by way of several Pull-off's, Hammer-ons and Slides.

Be careful of your fingerings and memorize the entire idea prior to building your speed. Use a metronome to balance the shifts along the neck and to increase the lick up to a fast pace. Enjoy!
